Follow up from my session at the Black Marble Tech Update 2016
There have been some requests for more information about the areas I convered in my presentation at the Black Marble Tech Update 2016 that we held last week.
I could send out slides, but I think it is far more useful to point you at the ‘live’ resource on the Internet. The key reason for this is that the whole of the Visual Studio family is now being released at a ‘cloud cadence’ i.e. new features are appearing rapidly, so anything I write will soon be out of date. Better to look at the live sources where possible.
- The Visual Studio Team Services Feature Timeline explains what is available for TFS and VSTS, it includes links to UserVioce and/or background blog posts about the new features
- You can find more post on all the features of TFS and VSTS at the ALM Team Blog or Brian Harry’s Blog
- Visual Studio Code can be download from here. Once installed it should keep itself up to date
- The videos from the Connect() conference from late last year gives the best overview of the Visual Studio family. The keynotes are a great place to start
- A great discussion on .NET Core and ASP.NET Core can be found in Scott Hanselmans blog and podcast.
- Look out for all Microsoft’s open source projects at the .NET Foundation and GitHub
Hope you find these useful pointers
